PIRL EDWARD BLAYLOCK PENSIONED |
P. E. Blaylock of Farmington is a native of Millheim, Perry County, Mo. His parents moved to the Lead Belt when he was ten years of age. Through the years until May 1, 1955, when he will be pensioned by St. Joe, he earned his livelihood in the employment of three lead companies, Federal, Doe Run, and St. Joe. Mrs. Blaylock is the former Emma Lena Cleve of Farmington. She and Mr. Blaylock were married in 1942. They live at 218 W. College Street, Farmington. Mrs. Blaylock has four children by a previous marriage: Willard Koen of Fredericktown; George Koen of Farmington; Mrs. Emmett Biggs of Alton, Ill.; Alvin Koen of Las Vegas, Nevada. Three of Mr. Blaylock's nephews are employed by St. Joe: Burlin Yates of Knob Lick, Repairman in the Federal Mill; Roy L. Yates of Flat River, a Maintenance Man at the No. 10 mine; Paul L. Yates, 528 Yale Street, Farmington, Surveyor employed in the Geological Department. During the past year Mr. Blaylock underwent a serious operation in which one of his lungs was removed. He had made, or is making a remarkable recovery. He worked the past month at his regular job in the Federal Mill. In his younger days Mr. Blaylock was an able and enthusiastic baseball player. Bowling was the last recreational sport in which he engaged before his operation. Now he expects to be introduced to a new diversion. Mrs. Blaylock likes to fish; he does not. But he believes that the relaxation of fishing will be good for his health, so he will go along to watch and to rest, and -- who knows? -- perhaps to learn to like to fish! Mr. Blaylock's first work with the Federal Lead Company was in 1910. His property seniority with St. Joe dates from August, 1922. Published by THE LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois Co.
