Starling Lawson of Frankclay Killed in Mine Accident.

    Sterling [Starling] Lawson, 39 years of age, who had been employed as an undergraund contractor at Hoffman mine of the St. Joseph Lead Cop., near Leadwood, was killed instantly Saturday morning July 19, 1924 at 7:30 o'clock, shortly after he had gone on shift for the day. He was caught beneath a mass of falling "back" and was dead when removed from the mass of rock.

    The body was removed from the mine and was taken to the Boyer undertaking establishment in Leadwood, where corner C.J. Hill of Bismarck held and inquest Saturday afternoon. The body was prepared for burial after which it was removed to the home at Fankclay, where the funeral service was held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Raymond Jinkerson. Interment was made at Frankclay cemetery.

    Lawson had lived in the vicinity of Leadwood for may years, having been employed in the mines. He was steady and industrious and had been employed as a contractor for the past few years, making good money and providing well for his family.

    He is survived by a wife (Pearl Ballard Lawson) and 7 children, Lorene, Julia, Floyd, Theodore, Louise, Helen and Eugene.
