CEMETERIES OF ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MISSOURI
AND SURROUNDING AREAS

cem_panoramic.jpg (22112 bytes)

Cemeteries are museums. Their collections document the history of our communities and our families, and the stories of heroes, villains, and ordinary people like you and me. The cemeteries of this country are important to the fabric of our cultural heritage. To quote a common passage, cemeteries are where lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is undisguised.  This is a cemetery.   Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence, historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched.  Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life - not death - of a loved one. The cemetery is a homeland for family memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living.  A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always.

IF YOU HAVE PHOTOS YOU CAN SHARE, OR DON'T SEE WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR,  PLEASE E-MAIL US AND WE'LL CHECK OUR FILES.   We still have lots of photos and cemeteries to add, but, as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.   It's going to take a lot of time and, since people continue to die, it's a project with no end in sight.   There are over 200 cemeteries in St. Francois County alone!   We're not getting paid to do this.  It's a volunteer effort on our part.  We work full-time and have family obligations the same as most of you do.   Therefore, your patience and understanding would be appreciated.   Please report any bad links you encounter.   Thanks!
